First grumpy entry

Looking at truly terrible design regardless of media is a lot like watching American (or Finnish for that matter) Idols. At the surface, you feel amused and criticise the subject with harsh words. Dig slightly deeper and you find yourself feeling sorry for the "artist". Have they totally lost their self-criticism? What exactly is making the poor thing to perform/design? Maybe friendly but misleading and unfounded comments from peers and co-workers?

And yet, it feels good, doesn't it? For some reason, you get a little kick out of it. A tiny, often somewhat unjustified childish ego-boost doing its part to strengthen your professional self-image. Of course, you can't build that self-image on such feelings. Still, I bet everyone feels occasional superiority looking at another crappy website/poster/photo/whatever thinking "My god that is SHIT."
