That was quite a trip. Tokyo was a magnificent sight viewed from TMG. As for the cyborgs, samurai and geisha I was slightly disappointed not to spot a single one. Instead of trying to sum up the entire trip, I'll go into a couple of interesting details.
The blossoming cherry trees are often seen in photos with a lake or a park. I was a bit surprised to see that this fragile and brief display is also a green light for public drinking. In the Ueno park there were big trash cans and tarpaulins set on the tarmac to facilitate this. It was a shame we were on such a tight schedule - could've been great fun.
Japanese sure like their manga. They like it so much that even the most serious and official warnings and instructions can be illustrated by some freaky pink cartoon character. This reflects maybe the most intriguing aspect of Japanese society. The extremely inhibited behaviour, social norms and coolness has a very visual, vibrant and mad side to it.
